So, technically, this soap opera is included in the unofficial live action anime adaptation.
From a premise, this soap opera is no different from Hana Yori Dango or Meteor Garden where a girl meets four rich men. At first, the plot of this soap opera was similar to the original source. However, because the number of episodes later exceeded the Taiwan version, it resulted in the story developing from the original plot.

Geeks may already be familiar with the classic movie Ninja Kids, starring Steven Hao aka Boboho. This movie tells the story of four children who later enter a ninja school. There they experience many exciting adventures while learning various things to become a ninja. However, if you geeks know, this is actually an unofficial adaptation and also a parody of Nintama Rantarou.
Nintama Rantarou is a very popular classic anime series. In fact, this anime aired in Indonesia as well. Boboho’s character is very similar to one of the main characters, namely Shinbei Fukutomi. What is unique is that even though they have a ninja theme, they still show kung fu techniques in fighting. And also in 2011 there was finally an official version of the anime with the title Ninja Kids!
Dragon Ball: The Magic Begins
Perhaps, many people think that Dragonball Evolution is the first live action adaptation of the Dragon Ball anime. In fact, since the 1990s there have been two film studios that have tried to present their live-action series adaptations off the record. One of them is a movie produced in Taiwan, Dragon Ball: The Magic Begins, which was released in 1991.
This movie adapts the first Dragon Ball movie, but they make a lot of major changes to the story. In fact, all the names of the characters have been changed. What is interesting is that this unofficial live action anime adaptation features many of the main characters of the story such as Goku, Chi Chi, Master Roshi, etc. They also keep introducing small details like comedy elements or other ridiculous things.
Dragon Ball: Ssawora Son Goku, Igyeora Son Goku
As mentioned above, there were two studios that made live action Dragon Ball movies in an unofficial version in the 90s. Another Dragon Ball adaptation movie is a production house in South Korea. The meaning of the film title itself is “Dragon Ball: Son Goku Fight, Son Goku Win”. This movie was released a year before The Magic Begins. This is the world’s first live-action Dragon Ball movie.
Unlike the Taiwan-produced film, which distinguishes the story and also the characters in addition to the same design, this South Korean live-action film actually imitates everything from the anime. Starting with the style of the characters, the stories and even other details. However, it can be admitted that the acting quality of the actors and the costumes they wear are not very attractive.

In addition to making the Dragon Ball: Ssawora Son Goku movie, the Igyeora Son Goku studio in South Korea has made another unofficial live-action anime movie, namely Gundaman Fight. The plot of the film itself is less clear. One thing is certain though, this movie incorporates many elements of popular culture, especially the Gundam robots. A clear example of this is how one of the main characters in the movie is a human-sized Gundam-like robot. The robot is the incarnation of a detective who has the ability to turn into a robot, whose actor is the same as Goku.
Fist of the North Star
Still from the same production house, they actually put out another unofficial live-action anime movie, Fist of the North Star. Just like the Dragon Ball movie, the live-action Fist of the North Star actually adapts almost every elements of the original story. For example, the same title, the same story, even the feel or atmosphere of the story is similar to the original story.
However, there are several elements that draw quite a lot of attention, such as the actor’s fighting style and appearance, which are considered incompatible with Kenshiro’s appearance. Tetsuo Hara himself actually knew about this film, but there is no information on whether he took legal action on it. And what’s also interesting is that it turns out that Fist of the North Star has a live-action adaptation in the Hollywood version, even though it was deemed a flop.
Super Mario vs Son Goku
Perhaps never before would you have imagined that these two popular characters would meet in the same story. However, this is what happened in the movie Super Mario vs Son Goku produced by a production company in the Philippines. Actually, if you watch the Super Mario vs Son Goku movie, it’s hard to think of the movie as a live action adaptation.
The reason is that there is absolutely no story element in the film that is an adaptation or change from the original story. Super Mario vs Son Goku is actually more suitable to be considered a parody of the two characters. This is because the actors playing the characters do not look like these characters at all. In fact, more “comedy” elements appeared later in the film.
Adapting a live action version of an anime title is not a bad thing. In fact, this could be a way of giving its own color to the global film industry. However, of course, all these things must be done legally and with the permission of the author or creator. Because, it’s not impossible that these movies have to deal with the law.
