“Narcissists are the ones who do it,” – Signe (Sick of Myself, 2022)
sick of myself film written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli. There is a lot of social commentary in this movie. sick of myself it can be seen on Klikfilm from July 2023.
This movie finally got the green light in Norway after the director worked on it since 2017. The director said that Los Angeles influenced the character and plot of this movie more.
sick of myself it is about a young woman named Signe, who is unable to overcome her pathological need for attention. Look at the reviews sick of myself from Cineverse below
Synopsis
An attractive young couple sitting in the middle of a fancy restaurant in Norway. Signe (Kristine Kujath Thorp) and Thomas (Eirik Sæther) don’t seem to be in love,
However, they had a great time with a birthday dessert and a $2300 bottle of wine. At the end of dinner, Thomas told Signe to take the call outside.
As soon as Signe left the restaurant, she stole the remaining bottles of wine and ran away. Seeing this, an angry maid chased after him. Signe, who was ignored on the sidewalk, looks on in disbelief as the waiter walks past him after missing Thomas.
He hates not being recognized, even if it costs him. Later, as Thomas celebrates the robbery of him with his friends at a party, Signe watches jealously from out of the spotlight.

In that moment, we meet the unhappy, competitive, and self-destructive couple vying for the coveted spotlight.
Narcissist discussed in a funny style
This film not only presents the character portrait of someone suffering from Münchhausen Syndrome, but also sheds light on issues like how we choose our beauty standards.
sick of myself beven with an “imperfect” beauty to be politically correct, or how we show ourselves to the outside world.

One hilarious dynamic is her relationship with her attention-starved boyfriend, Thomas, who enlists her help in stealing a piece of furniture turned into a “work of art” and taking all the credit for himself.
The more attention it receives, the more rebellious it becomes and vice versa. The movie begins fantastically with the increasingly absurd social situations and how far people are willing to go in the spotlight.
He turned around in the second half

The pace slows down halfway through the film and instead focuses more on the disease that Signe actually put on him. Even though things are getting worse, the light but dark humor that works so well is a bit forgettable.
The ending feels anticlimactic and out of place for a movie that bordered on the absurd and extreme during its first half.
The original plot revolves around social problems.

The idea and the script were great, but in general the creators did not know how to end the story. It would have been better if the movie ended with a bang or at least was a little more on par with the intensity delivered at the beginning.
There are no puns about two people having to be the center of attention. And even though that may sound like a done match. Their attitude, especially his, shows that he hates himself, but it is his perception of himself that he hates.
single drive element

The introduction the director gave (video message) before the movie started was very funny. Suggest that only smart people will understand and like this movie.
That being said, of course you’re not insulting anyone who doesn’t like the movie. There are a number of reasons why some people might be at least a little upset with this movie.
The makeup is so good, diving inside the main character’s head and seeing a version of what she thinks about her future appear out of nowhere. And we don’t always know when it started, most of us can tell it was a series of dreams.
Conclusion
While this film has a dark and humorous spirit, it raises questions for our time (why do people like this draw our attention?) The stolen furniture repurposed by Thomas and Signe’s internet fame quest doesn’t have much meaning behind its efforts.
They represent nothing but themselves. From this film it could even be said that this way of seeking fame online for 15 minutes is a form of disease in itself.
The need to trend, to get pathetic clickbait stories, to create content without actually creating anything. In a moment of desperation, Signe tries to get a dog to bite him so she can have a bigger story to tell.
