The popular anime series, Rurouni Kenshin, will return in 2023 in a reboot version and has already started featuring the series’ opening and ending songs. Anime Samurai X or Rurouni Kenshin first aired in 1996 and ended in 1998. The total number of episodes featured in the anime itself is 95 episodes. Even so, the story itself was outside of its main source and disappointed fans.
The Samurai X anime also released several OVAs, which again did not garner a positive response from fans. Now interesting news has emerged where the Rurouni Kenshin anime, also known as Samurai X, is coming back in the summer of 2023. This latest anime is a reboot of the previous version. On the other hand, this new anime will adapt the story of the manga even from the beginning.
In order to start promoting the anime that will air next summer, the animation studio has started releasing various things such as opening and closing song intros. Furthermore, the promotional video also shows the first episode of the new anime. The most recent opening song for the anime is “Hiten”, sung by Ayase and R-Shitei. Meanwhile, the ending song is titled “Kissaki” sung by Reol.
Apart from the visual aspect, which is much more interesting than the late 1990s version, the voice actors are also different. In the first anime series, Mayo Suzukake was voiced by Kenshin Himura. Meanwhile, in the rebooted version, Kenshin’s voice is filled with Soma Saito. Meanwhile, Rie Takahashi replaced the voice of Kaoru Kamiya. Samurai X itself tells the story of a swordsman named Kenshin Himura who used to be a figure that many people feared. This is because Kenshin’s sword skills are very difficult to match.
However, after the many lives he had taken, Kenshin had finally decided to stop being that terrible figure. He decides to become a helper for people who need help to make amends for the mistakes he has made. Kenshin himself is famous for his sword Sakabato, where he returns the sharp blade of the sword. Thus, it is precisely the blunt part of the blade that is in front. Kenshin himself starts his new life, but in reality he can’t escape the bad memories of the past.
