Blockchain infrastructure company lightning labs has presented a set of tools for developers that allow the integration of Bitcoin (BTC) with AI applications and Large Language Models (LLM) as ChatGPT.

The company, which develops software that enhances the lightning networksaid these new tools are intended to promote the development of global, inclusive and profitable LLM tools that seamlessly incorporate Bitcoin and Lightning, according to a recent blog post.

The tools are built on L402 protocol, a native Lightning authentication mechanism, and long chaina widely used library that simplifies working with AI agents by augmenting them with external data for enhanced functionality.

The toolkit includes LangChainBitcoinwhich allows Langchain agents to interact directly with Bitcoin and the Lightning Network.

The first feature that LangChainBitcoin offers is LLM Agent BitcoinTools, which harnesses the power of the recently released GPT function calls by OpenAI.

These tools allow developers to design brokers that can hold some BTC, both on-chain and in Lightning, and facilitate Bitcoin transactions on the Lightning Network.

Additionally, developers can directly use a Lightning Network Daemon (LND) node to control these agents.

Another tool introduced is the L402 HTTP API Traversalto Piton wrapper for LangChain LLM Chain (APIChain).

This facilitates seamless access to the L402 Metered Payment APIs for agents, allowing them to seamlessly interact with externally provided services.

Opening, the latest version, complements the toolkit as a direct reverse proxy server that implements the L402 protocol. Using the Lightning Network, Aperture transforms any API into a controlled pay-as-you-go resource through L402 functionality.

Lightning Labs Announces Bitcoin Lightning Enhancement Proposal for L402

Lightning Labs has also introduced the L402 bLIPa Bitcoin Lightning enhancement proposal to the L402 protocol standard that would share the building blocks of these components.

The L402 protocol, derived from the HTTP 402 Payment Required status response code, represents a significant advance in decentralized payment systems.

It combines the authentication functionality of macarons, an authentication mechanism for distributed systems, with permissionless global payments offered by the Lightning Network.

An additional benefit that these tools bring is their ability to monetize access to various software applications.

Since the expenses associated with training GPUs for AI applications can be significant, developers often seek to recover costs through credit cards, resulting in higher fees for end-users due to return charges. and frauds.

L402-enabled tools now offer users the opportunity to sell and pay for API queries, unlocking new revenue streams and promoting a more sustainable economic model.

“With the L402 protocol and LangChainBitcoin, we can ensure that open models can be accessed through an open payment system,” the company said in the announcement, concluding that “in the end, open source will win.”

The AI industry has seen a surge in popularity after the launch of OpenAI’s ChatGPT last November.

open AI is an artificial intelligence research company and ChatGPT is one of its advanced chatbots which gained more than 100 million users just two months after its launch.
