james gun rose to fame after directing the Guardians of the Galaxy trilogy. And now that the franchise is over, he’s now turning his attention to Superman: Legacy, a reboot that will see David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan as Superman and Lois Lane. Of course, Gunn has produced many superhero movies, from The Specials, Super, Guardians of the Galaxy, to The Suicide Squad. Superman obviously is on another level, not only in terms of public perception, but also in terms of power. Several writers previously admitted that they had a hard time making a character as strong as Superman interesting. But Gunn, as he mentioned in the comments for Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 3, stated that it was not a problem licensed in lettersGinya.
Interestingly, James Gunn compared the strengths of Superman and Adam Warlock. In the Guardians of the Galaxy 3 movie, there is a fight between Drax and Warlock. Gunn says that the fight is a way to show how strong Drax is, something easily forgotten in previous movies, as the team is always facing cosmic threats. However, in the end, Drax was soundly defeated by Adam.
“Adam Warlock’s strength is almost comparable to Superman’s, so it was very intense,” Gunn explained.
Gunn may not have made the comparison on purpose. The reboot of Superman: Legacy, in which James Gunn will work, has caught the attention of superhero fans. Following the success of the Guardians of the Galaxy series, Gunn is once again trying to present superpowers in this iconic lead character. Although Superman has become a well-known figure and acclaimed by many, finding a way to keep a character as strong as Superman interesting was a challenge for both the writers and the filmmakers. Hopefully Superman’s new appearance later.
Superman: Legacy will tell the story of Superman’s journey trying to reconcile his Kryptonian heritage with his humanity as Clark Kent of Smallville, Kansas. He is the embodiment of honesty, justice, and America itself, guided by the goodness of humans in a world that sees such goodness as passé.
