The series has become the most controversial summer show since it was first announced. Created by Sam Levinson, Abel “The Weeknd” Tesfaye and Reza Fahim, this series is about aspiring pop idol Jocelyn (Lily-Rose Depp) and her complex relationship with teacher and cult leader Tedros (Abel Tesfaye).
Now that the first season is over, viewers can only speculate on the potential for a season 2.
At the end of the season the idols, Jocelyn manages to get rid of Tedros, the manipulative cult leader who has taken control of her life. After Tedros falsely accuses his ex-girlfriend of rape, Jocelyn takes control and goes after his followers, offers him money, and eventually drags him out of her house.
He then teams up with his tour manager, Finkelstein (Eli Roth), and record label rep Nikki (Jane Adams), to expose Tedros through an exposé written by journalist Talia (Nef Hari). The article then destroyed Tedros’s life.
The season ends with Jocelyn reclaiming her place as a true idol, while Tedros is reduced to a helpless figure waiting in the dark.
After finishing the first season with a lot of controversy, not a few talk about whether the second season of the idols It has been canceled. However, via the official HBO Twitter account, they denied this and said it was still uncertain.

Da’Vine Joy Randolph, who plays the character as Jocelyn’s manager, offered a glimpse of the potential for a second season. She revealed that the first season was intentionally left open-ended to allow for a possible sequel.
Randolph told Vulture: “I saw the first season as seeing the world in great detail and character development, then setting up the second season where it looked like now we’re really going to get into some sh*t.”
While there hasn’t been an official announcement yet, Randolph’s comments hint that there is a will and intent to continue the series. However, chat online about the event is critical, focusing on missed opportunities and underdeveloped characters.
Reception among viewers may also influence decisions about a second season. If it goes into production, the upcoming season 2 will likely explore Jocelyn and Tedros’ relationship as they vie with each other for control of their careers.
