The choice of Greta Gerwig as director of The Chronicles of Narnia will once again continue in the memory of her fans who were uprooted in the third film. The Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
series movies the Chronicles of Narnia which was made almost over a decade ago received quite positive responses and responses from movie fans and book fans alike. And after all these years, it looks like no more Narnia movies will ever be made.
The first Chronicles of Narnia film titled The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe Created in 2005 with talented young actors and actresses including William Moseley, Anna Popplewell, Georgie Henley and Skandar Keynes as the four Pevensie brothers, as well as James McAvoy, Tilda Swinton and Liam Neeson as the voice of the lion Aslan.
The film, which was an adaptation of CS Lewis’ serial novel, which was published in 1950, was a phenomenal box office success.
Due to this success, in 2008 another film was made, titled prince caspian and the third movie The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 2010. Only two Pevensie brothers appear in the third film, played by Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley as Edward Pevensie and Lucy Pevensie respectively.
Also appearing are Ben Barnes as Prince Caspian and newcomer Will Poulter as Pevensie’s cousin Eustace Scrubb. There are also cameos from Tilda Swinton as the White Witch and Liam Neeson once again as Aslan.
After the release of the third film, there were plans to make a fourth and fifth film, The Magician’s Nephew and The Silver Chair, but after Walden Media’s rights to the Narnia series expired in 2011, the prospect of making the film seemed to have reached a dead end.
But then in 2018, Netflix got the rights to remake the movie. And now it’s Greta Gerwig who recently made a movie Barbie, has officially joined as its director.
At the moment, there has been no official explanation from Netflix regarding the upcoming movie-making process, whether to continue producing movies from the remaining four CS Lewis books, or to restart from the seventh book series.
